A Conversation with Guests

Weddings are a great time to see and reconnect with family and friends whom you haven’t seen in a while. As the VIPs of the night, this can be a stressful time. You want everything to go off without a hitch but you also want to reconnect and have some great conversations with them. Below are some tips to do that.

  1. Meet guests prior to the wedding.

I am not talking about the day of your wedding. I am talking about the night before or a couple nights before your wedding.   Schedule a time where you can tell guests where you will be. One suggestion is to invite guests to your favorite local bar or restaurant after the rehearsal dinner. Most guests will be in town the night before and this gives you an opportunity to share a beverage, thank them for coming, and see what’s new in their life.

  1. Be available for cocktail hour.

Cocktail hour is a perfect time to mix and mingle with guests. This time is usually set up as a buffer for guests to arrive and enjoy a beverage/appetizer.

  1. Thank all of the guests publicly during the reception.

Talk with your DJ or Emcee, prior to the big day and plan out a time to thank the guests over the microphone. This could be right before dinner is served. All you need to do is thank your guests for celebrating this special occasion with you. You can mention that you may not get to thank everyone personally but having them attend means a lot to you. Tell guests that you will send them on the dance floor later.
